Invention of Stupa
History of Stupa
Stupas, which are mainly structures containing relics that the Buddhist monks used for meditation purposes, were originated in India at an early age, around the 3rd century BCE.
Initially, they were used for the purpose of storing sacred, spiritual and religious relics, other than other activities of spirituality that were associated with it during those early times.
Over the years, the concept of architecture with Stupas got quite famous with the Southeast as well as the East Asian countries, and later transitioned and took the new form, becoming famous by the name of “pagoda,” which actually is a monument in Buddhism, utilized for enshrining and storing relics which are religiously considered to be sacred and holy.
