For its beyond ordinary architecture and breathtaking marbled stone carvings, the Dilwara Jain Temples, located in Mount Abu is one of the most popular Jain temples in India. Over the years, there has been many comparisons drawn of the temple with the famous Agra monument, Taj Mahal, in regards of its architecture; many stating the temple could any day outshine the Shah Jahan built structure in terms of its minute detailing of architecture.
Built in the 11th century AD, the temple depicts best human craftsmanship, and has silver linings in its interiors, along with effortlessly carved ceilings that give you the idea of the amount of hard work that would have gone into the construction of the structure.
The place is a very popular pilgrimage site, and mainly consists of five sections, which are again temples dedicated to five different Jain saints. The temples are: Shri Mahavir Swami Temple, Shri Adinath Temple (also known as Vimal Vasahi Temple), Shri Parshavnath Temple (also known as Khartar Vasahi Temple), Shri Rishabdaoji Temple (also known as Peethalhar Temple) and Shri Neminathji Temple (also known as Luna Vasahi Temple).
All these temples are open for the general public everyday from 12.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m.
