CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme Overview

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) invites applications from single girls who have passed the CBSE Class 10 examination in 2020 for the CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child 2020.

The scholarship’s goal is to help deserving single-girl students who are the only children of their parents to continue their Class 11 and 12 further school education. For a maximum duration of two years, the selected girls will earn INR 500 per month.

 

Criteria of eligibility and method of selection

  • The student should have passed a Class X exam from a CBSE school and earned 60 percent or more marks.
  • Students from CBSE affiliated schools can follow Class XI & XII.
  • It is appropriate to send an original affidavit adequately attested to by the First-Class Judicial Magistrate/ SDM/ Executive Magistrate/Notary by the specified format available on the Board’s website. It will not accept a photocopy of the affidavit.
  • An undertaking should be certified by the school principal from which, after passing the Class X board review, the student pursues Class XI.
  • Tuition fees in Class X should not exceed Rs 1,500 per month, and Class XI & XII should be raised by 10 percent.
  • The Board’s NRI applicants are also eligible for the award. The NRI student tuition fee should be a maximum of Rs 6,000 per month,
  • The scholarship is awarded only to Indian nationals.
  • The applicant who passed the 2019 CBSE Class X Test will be considered.

 

Scholarship and renewal period

  • The scholarship awarded must be renewed for the next year after the satisfactory completion of Class XI. Renewal will also depend on promotion to the next class if the student secures aggregate marks of 50 percent or more in the exam that decides her promotion to the next class.
  • The renewal or continuation of the scholarship shall be subject to the Board’s prior approval in cases where a scholar gives up the chosen course of study before completing the course of study or if she changes her school. The continuation of the scholarship includes good behaviour and regularity of attendance. In all such matters, the decision of the Board shall be final and binding. A scholarship, once revoked, shall under no circumstances be renewed.

 

Amount of scholarship and method of payment

The sum of the scholarship is Rs 500 per month. A scholarship awarded in compliance with the program shall be paid for two years. The payment is made through ECS/NEFT.

 

How to submit an application

The applicant needs to visit the CBSE site and click on the box at the bottom of the ‘CBSE Scholarship Portal.’ The applicant must click on the option ‘Guidelines and Application Forms/ Apply Online’ and follow the steps listed here.

  1. To submit the online application form, the applicant must enter her roll number and date of birth (as written on the Class X marker sheet).
  2. Carefully enter all details and submit the form.
  3. Notice the registration number shown on the tab. This will be used as documents are uploaded and for all other potential communications as well.
  4. As indicated in the ‘Guidelines Text,’ print the undertaking, fill it out, paste the photograph, and get it approved by the school.
  5. Prepare the affidavit in the ‘Guidelines Text’ according to the format given.
  6. To build a PDF file of up to 1MB size, search the above two documents, i.e., ‘affidavit’ and ‘undertaking.’ All pages should be included in the PDF (in the case of several pages).
  7. Go to the option ‘Upload Document’ and upload both of the documents mentioned above.
  8. Go to the ‘Confirmation tab’ option to print and create the page for confirmation.
  9. A confirmation page can only be produced by applicants who have completed the application process correctly. Applicants who have not produced a confirmation page are not active and will not process their request.
