Ram Singh Kuka – Freedom Fighter of India

Born on the 3^rd of February in the year 1816 in the Indian state of Punjab, Ram Singh Kuka was a famous religious leader, as well as a social reformer who strongly believed in the philosophy of Guru Granth Sahib—lord of the Sikhs, and abided by the ideology to lead the mass to civilize the world.

A multi dimensional personality, he was a nationalist leader who had a number of spiritual teachings for followers and was also one of the first Indians to opt for the non cooperation approach and boycott the use of British made goods and merchandise. He believed in such an approach to be the strongest political weapon.

He voiced his opposition against the British Raj by hoisting a white flag, that depicted freedom on the `12^th of April in the year 1857 and it was his theories and policies of civil disobedience and non cooperation that Gandhi later adopted in order to lead the nation to attain independence from the foreign clutches.

His ideas established a set of standards for the future generation of political leaders to follow from, and even when he was imprisoned, he managed to maintain a strong contact with all his followers who believed in his spiritual, religious as well as nationalistic ideologies.
