Bharat Stories
Light of Knowledge

Editorial Policy

Bharat Stories (bharatstories.com) is an independent Indian website run by its founder, Yugam. It publishes explainers on Indian culture, history, travel, education and government schemes. Its News section covers current developments in India, including government and regulator announcements, courts, the economy, business and sport.

Who writes our news

News reports are published under the byline Bharat Stories News Desk. This is the site’s in-house news desk, and the founder is responsible for what it publishes. We do not attribute reports to reporters who do not exist. Contributed or guest articles carry the contributor’s own name. They are kept separate from news reports.

How we report

  • Sourcing. We rely on primary sources wherever possible: official notifications, press releases, court orders, regulator filings and statements made on the record. When a fact comes from another news organisation, we name that organisation in the text and link to its original report.
  • Attribution. Quotes are attributed to the person who said them and to where they were said or reported. We do not make up quotes or sources.
  • Verification. Before we publish, we check the key facts (names, numbers, dates and the sequence of events) against at least one primary or reputable source. If something cannot be confirmed, we say so clearly.
  • Separating news from opinion. News reports set out facts. Any analysis or explainer content is clearly labelled.
  • Dates. Every article shows when it was published. If an article is substantively updated, it also shows when it was last updated.

Independence and funding

Bharat Stories is owned and funded by its founder. It earns revenue from display advertising and from clearly labelled sponsored or advertising content (see our Advertisement page). Advertisers and sponsors have no say over news coverage. Sponsored content is never published as news and is always labelled as sponsored.

Use of tools

We may use software tools to help with research, translation or drafting. Every news report is reviewed by the desk before it is published, and the desk is responsible for its accuracy.

Corrections and contact

See our Corrections Policy. You can reach the desk through the Contact page or by email at [email protected].
