What Fun88 Is
Fun88 offers betting on football, cricket and other sports, along with slots, live dealer tables and other casino games. It runs separate sites and apps for different countries, in languages such as Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese and Hindi, and it markets itself heavily through sport. Like most online casinos, it rents many of its games from outside software studios.
Because the brand runs many local domains and mirror sites, it can be hard for a reader to tell which company runs a given site, which licence applies and which rules protect the customer. We could not verify the current operating company and licence for each Fun88 market from a primary public register, so we do not state them here.
Why the Brand Runs So Many Sites
Offshore betting brands often keep several web addresses at once. When a country blocks one address, players are pointed to another. Local sites also let a brand use local payment methods and language. For a player, this makes it harder to know whether a given address is genuine, a copy run by scammers or an affiliate page paid to send traffic.
How the Brand Works With Football Clubs
Fun88 became Newcastle United’s shirt sponsor in 2017 and held that spot until 2023, when it moved to a role as the club’s official Asian betting partner. Several Asian facing betting brands have sponsored English clubs in the same way. Their target customers are mostly overseas fans who watch Premier League games on television.
To appear on British shirts and boards legally, such brands have often used a “white label” arrangement. A company licensed in Great Britain runs a British facing version of the site under the sponsor’s brand, while the brand’s real business is in Asia. Investigators and journalists have criticised this model, saying it lets brands gain publicity in Britain while most of their revenue comes from countries where online betting is restricted or banned.
The 2025 British Licence Exit
On 16 May 2025 the Gambling Commission announced that TGP Europe, a white label operator that ran British sites for several sponsors, had surrendered its licence. The regulator had told the company it would need to pay a penalty of 3.3 million pounds and make major improvements to keep trading. The failures related to checks on business partners and anti money laundering rules. It was TGP’s second breach, after a fine of 316,250 pounds in 2023.
The Commission named Newcastle United, sponsored by Sportsbet.io and Fun88, among the clubs whose betting partners had become unlicensed in Great Britain. It wrote to the clubs, asked them to show that British customers could not use the sites by any means, and warned that promoting unlicensed gambling to people in Great Britain can lead to prosecution.
The Law in India Since May 2026
India passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act in August 2025, and it came into force on 1 May 2026. The law bans all online money games, whether based on skill or chance. That includes sports betting and online casinos such as Fun88. It also bans advertising them and bars banks and payment apps from processing money for them.
Reported penalties reach three years in prison and a fine of up to one crore rupees for offering such games, and two years and up to fifty lakh rupees for advertising them. A challenge is before the Supreme Court, which has agreed to hear the case in full, but there is no ruling as of October 2026, so the ban stands. Even before the Act, Indian authorities had blocked many offshore betting sites, and the investigative group Play the Game has reported Fun88 among the brands blocked in India.
Other Countries
- United Kingdom. Only operators on the Gambling Commission register may serve British players.
- United States. Online sports betting is legal only in states that license it, and online casinos in a smaller group of states.
- Australia. Offering online casino games to Australians is illegal, and ACMA blocks offshore sites.
- Much of Asia. Countries such as China, Indonesia and Vietnam ban or tightly restrict online betting, so many Asian facing sites operate from abroad.
How Betting Odds and Casino Games Favour the Operator
Bookmakers build a margin into their odds. In a two way match where each side has an even chance, fair odds would pay double the stake, but a bookmaker might offer 1.90 on each side. The gap is the bookmaker’s profit. Casino games work the same way through the house edge. On European roulette it is about 2.7 percent, and slot machines keep a share of every stake over time.
Bonuses do not tilt the maths towards the player. They usually carry wagering requirements, meaning the bonus must be staked many times before it can be withdrawn, along with limits on bet size, games and time. Reading these terms closely shows why a bonus is a marketing tool rather than free money.
Risks for Players
- Unclear operator. If you cannot tell which company runs a site, you cannot tell who holds your money or who to complain to.
- No local protection. A site without a licence in your country is outside your regulator’s reach.
- Payment risk. Deposits through agents, personal bank accounts or crypto wallets are hard to trace or reverse.
- Frozen funds. In India, banks must block payments linked to banned money games.
- Personal data. Identity papers and bank details shared with offshore sites can be leaked or misused.
Warning Signs to Watch For
- You are sent a new link each time the old one stops working.
- A “local agent” asks you to pay into a personal account or wallet.
- Adverts or tipsters promise sure wins, fixed matches or easy daily income.
- The app is offered as a file download rather than through an official store.
- Withdrawals are held until you pay an extra fee.
In India, fraud can be reported on the national cybercrime helpline, 1930.

What We Changed From the Old Post
The old post was a five step guide to registering, verifying, depositing, claiming a bonus and playing on Fun88. It called the site safe and reliable without evidence and linked to a third party betting entrance page. We removed all of that, along with the old jump links and an unrelated internal link. The new version explains the brand’s sponsorship model, the 2025 British licence exit, India’s ban from May 2026, how odds favour the operator, risks, warning signs and help lines.
