Born on the 1st of March in the year 1983, in Manipur, Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom, commonly known simply as Mary Kom, is a renowned boxing champion, who has set a record for herself by being the only female boxer in the country to have bagged a medal in each and every one of the six world championships.

Gaining immense recognition, she has won the World Amateur Boxing Championship five times, and has also won a bronze medal in the 2012 Summer Olympics held at London. She is the only women till date to have even qualified in the Olympics for the boxing sport.

Popularly and fondly called “Magnificent Mary” by the general public, she won a gold medal at the Asian Games held at South Korea in 2014.

Currently coached by Charles Atkinson, presently she is ranked at number 4 in the World Women’s Ranking Flyweight category. She is currently the brand ambassador of the Super Fight League, and for her many achievements, the Manipal government has honored her with a list of things, which include Rs. 50 lakhs cash and a two-acre land.

Married to K. Onler Kom, she is blessed with three sons, and despite her family commitments, continues to pursue her passion for the sport of boxing.
