Born on the 18th of January, in the year 1842 in Nasik, located in the Indian state of Maharashtra, Mahadev Govind Ranade was a renowned scholar, an author who penned down a number of literary works, and also a social reformer whose contributions include his role in being one of the founding members of the Indian National Congress party.
His political career ranged from a number of designations, wherein he was appointed as a member in the Bombay Legislative Council, the Judge of the Bombay High Court, as well as member of the Central Finance Committee.
