About Gorumara National Park

Gorumara National Park, the region of the Archaic Great Indian 1 Horned Rhinoceros is arranged in the downpour fields of Rivers Murti & Jaldhaka of the area of Dooars (undulating mount slant) inside locale Jalpaiguri of West Bengal.

The dry deciduous wilderness territory combines with prairies, docks one of greatest assortment of gigantic fauna in West Bengal.

Since 1895 it was a Reserve Forest and in 1949 was confirmed as a Wildlife National Park comprising of a little area of two thousand one hundred and twenty-nine sections of land.

In 1994 it was avowed as a National Park in view of its gigantic varieties of plants & creatures with an entire district of 79.99 sq km. Six Km more expansion range is under deliberation.

The park comprises recorded 50 classes of well-evolved creatures, 193 classes of winged animals, twenty-two classes of reptiles, seven classes of turtles, twenty-seven classes of fishes & different full scale & miniaturized scale fauna.

There are plentiful huge herbivores like Indian rhinoceros, gaur, Asian elephant, sloth bear, chital, & sambar deer here. Little herbivores involve barking deer, hog deer & wild pig.

Relatively there is the absence of tremendous carnivores and the only colossal feline is the Leopard.
