About Deccan Festival

As the name suggests, the festival is celebrated every year on the 25th of February and goes on till 5 days to celebrate the Deccan arts and culture in Hyderabad, Telangana. The festival consists of a number of joyous elements including crafts, exhibitions and cultural programs including dance, songs and other forms of entertainment along with a variety of nawabi cuisines.

When it comes to the cultural factor, there’s a variety of events with ghazals, poetry, shayaris and qawalis—all traditional forms of the Deccan cultural heritage. The Department of Tourism invests in this festival and renowned dancers and artists from all parts of the country are specially invited to perform in the cultural events during the five days long festival.

Other than the craft stalls and food stalls, the festival also consists of a fair with stalls showcasing jewelry like bangles and the famous Hyderabadi pearls which are cherished and admired by almost every woman in the country.
