About Valley Of Flowers

Situated on the highest Himalayan Ranges in the northern state of Uttarakhand in India, the Valley of Flowers is regarded as a fairyland, or nature’s paradise, much more than being just a hill station in the country.

It is surrounded by white-snowy mountains and stands at an elevation of around 3,600 meters above the sea level. Geographically, it lies on the Bhyundar Ganga expansions in the ineriors of the Garhwal Himalayan Ranges.

The valley is extremely rich in flora and fauna and by far houses the largest variety of wildflower species. Historically, the place has found mentions in both the popular Indian epics: The Mahabharata as well as the Ramayana.

As of today, the Valley of Flowers is technically a national park that is a valley starting from the Nar Parvat, which demarcates it from the other beautiful valley of Badrinath—another popular hill station and pilgrim place. Nature here is found to be in its most vibrant form, with a plethora of colors reflecting through the flowers as well as the greenery all around.

It is also famous for being the dwelling place of a variety of wild Himalayan flowers. This is precisely the reason why the place is distinctly named as the Valley of Flowers, for its unique collection of flowers that bloom here between the months of May and September.
