Airtel to launch 4G branded handsets for Rs. 4000: Report

To counter Reliance Jio’s offer to catch the 4G administrations market with minimal effort packaged handsets, telecom major Bharti Airtel is planning to launch Airtel marked smartphones for Rs 4,000 by October-November.

The organization is in dialogs with Chinese merchants and even held converses with Taiwan based Foxconn, which has set up its versatile assembling plant in India. However, no quick remarks were gotten from Airtel and Foxconn.

RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani in the organization’s yearly broad meeting said that with the exertion of Reliance Jio Infocomm, the nation will get the chance to see 4G cellphones for not as much as Rs 4,000. This will be the second time passage of Mukesh Ambani in the telecom space. In 2003, Reliance dispatched cell phones for Rs 500 which prompted quick hop in its supporter base.

“Airtel is in cutting edge stages to settle merchants to dispatch dual 4G handset in the value scope of Rs 4,000-12,000. Negotiations are around if it should be only just Airtel brand handset or co-branded handsets,” an industry source conscious of the improvement said. “It will support both FDD and TDD LTE system. It won’t be locked handset yet will accompany packaged arrangements which the organization feels will glue clients to its system. The expected timetable for the launch of these handsets is around the forthcoming merry season of Diwali, say October November,” the source said.

Airtel has begun launching 4G administration across the nation over in a staged way. The telco had launched India’s initial 4G administrations in Kolkata around 3 years back.
