About Daman and Diu

Both these islands are connected with the Portuguese endeavours of colonization and one can see its confirmation in the rich structural engineering. These outside trespassers seized Daman in 1531 and formally took it over by 1559 from the last Gujarati lord.

Three west streaming waterways go through the territory viz. the Bhagwan waterway running along the northern limit, the Kalem stream shaping the southern limit and the Damanganga stream lying in the middle.
