About Nimar Utsav Festival
Nimar Utsav is a popular festival celebrated in the state of Madhya Pradesh in India. It is observed every year mainly during the time of Kartik Purnima that is the month of November for a stretch of three consecutive days.
This year in 2017, it will be observed from the 13th of November, which happens to be a Monday. It is mainly celebrated in Maheshwar in Madhya Pradesh on the banks of one of the most popular holy rivers of India: Narmada.
The whole festival and its related events are organized by the state government of Madhya Pradesh. The celebrations consist of a number of events including dance, drama, music, boating, as well as canoeing.
Although Maheshwar is a very small town, which itself is located on the banks of River Narmada, it is quite popular among the masses as a pilgrimage place and also its traditional sarees. It was once the capital of Devi Ahilya: the great Holkar Queen.
