0 1,531

Popular hatchback Hyndai Santro, from the South Korean car maker Hyundai, is all set to make a new entry this 2018, with a revamped version. Yes, it was revealed last year during the Hyundai Tucson Drive that the company will be launching a brand new Santro in the Indian market this year.

And it seems now the wait is over. According to reports, the tentative date of this launch is somewhere in October 2018, and the new car was also showcased at the Auto Expo 2018, which was held in February.

The first Santro was launched in the year 1998, and in no time it became a household name and companion in majority of the Indian houses, making Hyundai leave a mark in the Indian market.

After 16 glorious years however, the favorite small car of most families was discontinued in the year 2014 in the Indian market.

New Hyundai Santro Preview

With Hyundai gearing up to revive its most famous ‘Santro’ nameplate, we have so far a list of tentative features that everyone would be seeing in the new Santro. The makers have also asserted that this car would be bigger and wider than the other compact cars that Hyundai has so far launched in the Indian market.

In the petrol variant, we’re expecting to see 0.8-liter and 1.0-liter engine variants, which would most likely be similar to the likes of the petrol mills that the Hyundai i10 used to offer.

Coming to transmission duties, the new Hyundai Santro will have the AMT (automated manual transmission) option, making this one the first from its lot to get this feature.

This is more specifically because the makers would have considered the growing demand for automatic option in India, when it comes to such entry level cars. Reports also suggest that the brand new Hyundai Santro may also get Hyundai’s infotainment system, etched with Apple Play.

The car will be priced between 3 to 5 lacs Indian Rupees. Its rivals in the Indian market would be cars like Tata Tiago, Renault Kwid, and Maruti Suzuki Celerio, and the Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R, Maruti Suzuki IGNIS among others.
