About Narasimha Konda

Located in Nellore district in the south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, Narasimha Konda, as the name suggests is a popular Hindu pilgrim place, dedicated to Lord Narasimha—considered to be the fourth incarnation of famous Hindu deity Lord Vishnu.

Technically, Narasimha Konda is a hill right next to the town of Jonnawada. What makes it religiously significant is the existence of the popular temple called Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, devoted to Lord Vishnu.

It is an ancient structure and garners a lot of attention from tourists and pilgrims who make it a point to visit the temple to offer their prayers as often as possible.

The temple was built in an era as early as the 9th century by popular Pallava King Narasimha Varma. Due to it being situated on a hill, it is surrounded by lush green atmosphere and people find this tranquil vicinity extremely beautiful.

According to legend, when famous sage Kasyapa had performed a rigorous yagam, Lord Vishnu had appeared in this place, pleased by the sage’s devotion.

The most popular festival celebrated in this pilgrim place is the festival of Bramhotsav that takes place during the month of May every year.
