Munnar Spectacularly Beautiful – a sanctuary of peace and tranquility – is the ideal tourist destination in God’s own country. Set at an altitude of 6000 ft , Munnar is in the Idukki district. It was one of the most favored summer resorts for the British rulers back in the colonial days.

Demographics of Munnar

Munnar got its name from its strategic location with the meeting of three rivers, the Muthirapuzha, Nallathananni, and Kundala rivers. Moonu means three, and Aru means rivers. This region is at around 1,500 m to 2,695 m above sea level. This was the summer capital for the British in the south of India.

Later it was developed for plowing tea plants. The beautiful views of acres and acres of lush green tea plantations will make us realize that we have reached Munnar and Munnar is famous for its tea plantations.

It carries the remains of tea cultivation in India. Strobilanthus and Neelakurinji have exceptional status on the tourism map of this destination. There is a flower that only blooms once in twelve years and attracts many tourists worldwide.

Exploring Munnar

Eravikulam National Park Nilgiri Tahr is considered the symbol of tourism in Munnar. The national park is also known for its Neelakurinji population.

In 2006, this pace witnessed the public from both national and international for a glimpse of the rare flowers. After 200, the flower again bloomed in the year 2018. When these flowers bloom, it covers the entire region, which is in beautiful violet color.

Over here, you can observe the highest peak in South India, Anamudi. A trek to this peak will charge you. When you have reached the top of this peak, you will feel very close to the sky, and you can soon touch the sky.

The beautiful Devikulam lake, Kolukkumalai, which is the highest tea plantation in the country, the waterfalls like Lakkam, Attukal, Nyayamakad, Chinnakal, Kuthumkal, Cheeyapara, Valara, and Thoovanam and Mattupetty makes Munnar the home of nature.

Munnar is heaven for all the shopaholics, is it tea or spices. Various spices are available here, like ginger, cardamom, pepper, cinnamon, coffee, cloves, and nutmeg. The homemade chocolates here also cannot be missed. They come in a variety of white, dark, liqueur-filled, and nuts.
