About Auli
Also known by the name of Auli Bugyal in Garhwali language, Auli is located in the Chamoli district in the northern state of Uttrakhand in India.
It happens to be a famous tourist attraction site being a hill station, along with being one of the most prominent skiing destinations in the Himalayan Ranges of Uttarakhand. It stands at an elevation of 3,049 meters above sea level. The official language in this area is Hindi.
Auli is enveloped by dense oak forests and the Himalayan peaks surround it thoroughly. Since it is on the way of one of India’s most famous pilgrimage sites, Badrinath, many pilgrims visit Auli during their journey to Badrinath to pay their tributes to the almighty.
The slopes in Auli make it a perfect spot for adventure lovers who get to do skiing here. The Uttarakhand Tourism Department conducts a list of adventure sports competitions here during the winter season.
Although the weather here is highly unpredictable given the high elevation of the place, the best time for tourists to visit Auli is between the months of January and March, especially if they want to enjoy skiing to their hearts’ content.
The major festivals celebrated in this region are: Skiing Festivals that take place during the months of January, February, and March every year; and the Mata Maruti Ka Mela, which takes place during the month of September, celebrated in full swing in the popular and neighboring destination of Badrinath, filled with a variety of rituals.
