Built in the year 1996, the Indian Institute of Management at Kozhikode was the fifth IIM among the 14 other IIMs to be set up in the country by the government of India to cover sectors related to management education, intellectual infrastructure development and consulting as well as training.
Located in Kozhikode in the Indian state of Kerala—which is also known as God’s own country, for its beautiful and breathtaking landscapes, the IIM has its campus spread over two hills over the Western Ghats, in a sprawling 100 acres of land.
With its motto as “Yoga Karmasu Kaushalam,” which is a Sanskrit phrase and in English, means “Excellence in action is Yoga,” the institute offers programs to study cross global business needs and demands along with analytical and managerial skills of the candidates.
It is the first IIM to lay down a foundation stone for a museum—the Indian Business Museum, which was embarked to depict the contributions and achievements of famous business leaders and entities in sectors like trade, commerce, and industries. The idea was conceived in 2010 and the museum was completed in the year 2012 and inaugurated by the then governor of the Reserve Bank of India—D. Subbarao.
