About Alcatel
Founded in the year 2004, Alcatel is a mobile brand that happens to be a subsidiary of a popular Chinese Electronics company, TCL Corporation.
It initially commenced as a joint venture between Alcatel and Lucent, and was formerly known as Alcatel-Lucent, however, in the year 2005, TCL acquired all of Alcatel’s shares from Lucent, leading Alcatel to become a separate brand wholly owned by the TCL Corporation.
In the year 2016, telecommunications giant Nokia acquired Alcatel-Lucent and with over 90% shares in the company, became the parent company of Alcatel.
So far, Alcatel has successfully produced mobile phones: features phones and smartphones, tablets, as well as other connection technology products like watches, etc.
Alcatel also managed to win a prestigious award at the International Forum Design iF design award in the year 2012, for two of its models, which were Alcatel One Touch 818 as well as Alcatel One Touch 355.
The popular Alcatel smartphones include models like the Alcatel Idol 4, the Alcatel Pop Star, the Alcatel Pixi 4, as well as the Alcatel X1, all of which are powered by the Android Operating System from Google.
