About Kasauli

Located in the Solan district of the northern state of Himachal Pradesh in India, Kasauli is a very popular hill station of the country and is also a cantonment that was set up during the British era in the year 1842, as a colonial hill station. Kasauli is at height with an elevation of 1,900 meters above the sea level and is fundamentally a health resort.

With a literacy level of 80%, Kasauli, according to the census of 2001 in India has a population of over 5000 people. The official language of the region is Hindi.

Coming to the climate of Kasauli, it remains moderate most of the time, with the temperature hitting a minimum of around 2 degrees Celsius during the winters and a maximum of 32 degrees Celsius during the summer season.

Kasauli has a list of places to visit when it comes to tourist attraction spots. On the religious front, there’s the Kasauli Baptist Church, which is a famous building established in the year 1923 and is made up of woods and bricks and depicts the depth of colonial architecture during the British Raj in its truest sense. Next is the Christ Church, which formerly was an Anglican church, built in the year 1853.

The place also has a Shri Guru Nanak Ji Gurudwara, a holy shrine for the Sikhs to worship their almighty. For Hindu religious spots, Kasauli has the famous Hindu temple—the Nahri Temple, devoted to popular Hindu deities Lord Shiva and Goddess Durga.

The temple is also known the Choo Mantar Mahadev Temple, as well as the Jantar Mantar; and is quite famous for its grand celebrations on the festivals of Dusherra and Mahashivaratri. Kasauli also houses some of the rarest species of flora and fauna and one can witness the beautiful reign of wildlife here, including the sambar deers.

Other prominent places to visit in the hill station of Kasauli are: The Monkey Point, The Beja State, The Kasauli Club, The Kasauli Brewery, the Kasauli Central Research Institute—a collaboration of the World Health Organization, etc.
