Kalibari Jaipur
Located in the ethnic and beautiful town called Jaipur, in the north Indian state of Rajasthan, the Kalibari in the pink city of India (Jaipur) came into being in the late 20th century, precisely the year 1984.
As obvious by its title, the Kalibari is a holy shrine for the Hindus, devoted to Goddess Kali, who happens to be an incarnation of the prominent Hindu deity Goddess Durga.
Primarily set up by a team of Bengalis, the temple soon became a significant spot for pilgrims regardless of their faith and place of residence. While the temple premises are always bustling with crowds and activities, it is during the festival of Durgotsav that maximum tourists gather here to participate in the celebrations.
The five days long festival observes Mahabhog, where food is distributed to all visitors, a list of rituals, alongside fun cultural activities that include music, dance, drama, and much more.
Other than this, the temple also celebrates in great spirits other Hindu festivals like the Kali Puja, Saraswati Puja, and the Lakshmi Puja.
Other than the main Kalibari Gate and temple, the pholy shrine also consists of a library, a grand space for cultural activities, a guest house, and a beautiful roof shade.
History of Kalibari
The history of Kalibari Temple in Jaipur is not well-documented, but it is believed to have been established during the 18th century by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, who was the founder of Jaipur city.
