About Pranab Mukherjee
The ex-president of India, Pranab Mukherjee was born on the 11th of December in the year 1935, in Birbhum District of the state of West Bengal.
A multidimensional personality, he has been a renowned journalist, political leader, a teacher, as well as a writer. Serving as the Finance Minister of India during Manmohan Singh’s tenure as the prime minister, Mukherjee became the president of India in July, 2012, after successfully handling various departments like infrastructure, economic affairs, security, etc as a senior member.
His father, Kamada Kinkar Mukherjee, had been an active member of the Indian Congress Party, and thus, Pranab Mukherjee had great political influence since his childhood days.
He started his professional career as a teacher and then penned down a number of journalistic articles for a variety of both Bengali and English publications.
He has also published a list of books, some of which include Midterm Poll, Off the Track, Saga of Struggle and Sacrifice, and Challenges before the Nation, among others. All these books have been centred on politics.
He has a lot of awards to his credit, some of which are “Finance Minister of the Year for Asia” in 2010, the Padmabhushan Award in the year 2007, and the Best Parliamentarian Award in 1997.
