About Mantralayam Raghavendra Swamy Temple
Located in the Kurnool district of the south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, the Mantralayam Raghavendra Swamy Temple is a popular Hindu holy shrine. Basically Mantralayam is a pilgrim town, which is also known by the name of Manchale. It lies on the banks of the holy Tungabhadra River, and shares its borders with another south Indian state, that is Karnataka.
The town is most popular due to its association with Raghavendra Swamy, Madhwa saint and an ardent follower of Sri Madhwacharya. His presence is still acknowledged in the town and the Raghavendra Swamy Temple is devoted entirely to him and is known to be the Vrindavana of the Guru, Raghavendra Swamy.
According to legend, it is believed that the guru has been in Vrindavan for the past 339 years and for the future, he would be present there for the coming 361 years.
This is presumed on the basis of the belief that while entering the town, the guru had himself stated that he would be residing in Vrindavana for an entire stretch of 700 years. Millions of devotees from all around the country visit the place every year to get a gimpse of the guru’s own Vrindavan and also to feel his presence, to enjoy the serene and tranquil spiritual ambiance that the town provides and also offer prayers.
