This time the 70th Cannes Film Festival, one of the most popular global film festivals is scheduled to be held from the 17th of May to the 28th of May in Cannes, France.
It had first taken place in the year 1046. The event is going to be hosted by popular Italian actress Monica Bellucci.
According to reports, popular Spanish screenwriter and director Pedro Almodovar is going to be the jury’s president for the film festival this year.
The film that would be the opening film this year is Ismael’s Ghosts, which is an upcoming French drama film directed by French director Arnaud Desplechin.
This year’s poster for the Cannes Film Festival, which was released in the month of March, 2017, features Italian actress Claudia Cardinale, who said she feels wonderfully delighted and honored to be featured on the poster this year, when it is such a year of pride for the film festival since it is its 70th anniversary.
This time the total number of films that are up in the competition at the Cannes Film Festival is 19. On the other hand, there will be 9 short films telecast and 18 films will be telecast under the Un certain regard section.
From India, prominent and popular faces like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, ace Oscar-winning musician A.R. Rehman, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone are some of the people who will be attending the 70th Cannes Film Festival.
According to reports, Aishwarya will be presenting Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s popular period drama film, Devdas, where she herself starred in a lead role, once again, on the 20th of May.
On the other hand, A.R. Rehman will be attending the festival for the film Sanghamitra—a Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil trilingual, along with its full cast, directors, as well as producers, on the opening night of the event.
