About Basistha Ashram
Located in the city of Guwahati in the Indian state of Assam, Basishtha Ashram is a popular pilgrim spot devoted to the famous saint Basishtha, also referred to as Vasishtha, who had penned down the great Indian epic: Vasishtha Ramayana.
Everybody is aware of the fact that the epic to date remains the most commonly known tale of all time, having been translated into a plethora of languages, enacted, recited as well as narrated by almost every other individual in the country’s household.
The reason Basishtha Ashram forms such an integral part in terms of pilgrim spots is because it is believed that the learned saint was guided by the Almighty to pen down the epic, and it was for his urge to write it down that he had built this ashram, where he sat and wrote down the entire piece of Ramayana, in a calm and comforting ambiance.
