Tiger Shroff Firing Probe Widens as Five More Are Arrested
Mumbai: The Tiger Shroff firing case has grown well beyond the gunmen who fired at the actor’s car in Juhu last Sunday. Police said on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, that five more people, two of them women, had been held in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh as part of a network that allegedly sourced and carried the weapons, taking the number of arrests to eight, Deccan Herald and PTI reported.
On the same day a Mumbai court sent the three men accused of opening fire at the actor’s car to police custody until 31 October.

What happened in Juhu on 18 October
Shroff was returning home after football in Juhu at around 7 pm on Sunday, 18 October, when shots were fired at his car, ANI reported. The actor escaped with minor abrasions. His driver was hit in the left hand and taken to Nanavati Hospital, and a bystander was also wounded, according to Mumbai Mirror and PTI.
Police first said five to six rounds were fired. Mumbai Mirror, citing police and forensic sources, reported that the FIR and forensic findings record seven: five struck the BMW and two missed. Investigators recovered five empty cartridge cases and two live rounds, and believe the gun jammed after the fifth shot. The getaway motorcycle was later found abandoned in Andheri.
A case of attempt to murder and offences under the Arms Act has been registered at Juhu police station, and the Anti Extortion Cell of the Mumbai crime branch is leading the investigation.
Three accused in custody till 31 October
The three key accused were picked up from a train in Kota, Rajasthan, on Monday and brought to Mumbai at about 3 am on Wednesday, PTI and ANI reported. Police told the Esplanade court that the attack was allegedly carried out on the directions of Anil Pandit, whom they described as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Deccan Herald, quoting Delhi Police, described Pandit as a 32 year old US based gangster from Panipat.
The prosecution said custody was needed to recover the weapon, seize phones and other devices, collect call records and check claims made by the accused, according to PTI. Defence lawyers opposed the request, arguing that police custody could not be sought just to recover items and that electronic evidence could be examined without it. The magistrate sided with the police.
How the guns reached Mumbai
Deputy Commissioner of Police Raj Tilak Roshan told a press conference that technical analysis and questioning had led the crime branch to the group that bought and supplied the firearms. Raids were carried out with help from the Delhi and Haryana police, Deccan Herald reported.
“Two of the arrested suspects had travelled to Amritsar to procure the weapons. The two female suspects then smuggled the firearms by train to Mumbai, handing them over directly to the attackers,” Roshan said. One more suspect was picked up from Sonipat in Haryana, and police said one of the arrested men had stayed in Mumbai with the shooters to give them logistical help. According to Delhi Police, a pistol and 20 rounds were allegedly collected from Amritsar.
ANI reported early on Thursday that four of the newly arrested accused had been brought to the Anti Extortion Cell from Delhi, with the two women kept at Azad Maidan police station.
A recce of Juhu and other stars’ homes
CCTV footage shows the shooters spending about 45 minutes scouting the area near Pushpa Park before the attack, Mumbai Mirror reported. Police are also studying images of a possible third accomplice.
The Times of India reported that the arrested shooters told the crime branch their stay of nearly 20 days in Mumbai included touring Juhu and the western suburbs to see where film stars lived, including the homes of Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan. Police are verifying the claim and checking whether it was part of a wider effort to pick a target, the paper said, amid indications that Salman Khan was considered first.
The motive has not been confirmed. Pandit is said to have claimed responsibility in a purported audio clip, The Indian Express reported, and a social media post attributed to people linked to the Bishnoi gang said Shroff was targeted because of his association with Salman Khan, according to Hindustan Times. Police said the motive was still being established.
Bystander recovering after surgery
The injured bystander, Umesh Chauhan, a vlogger from Mankhurd who was filming near Pushpa Park, had a 1.5 cm bullet lodged near his liver. Doctors at KEM Hospital kept him under watch for two days to rule out internal bleeding and then removed it in an operation of about two hours, The Indian Express reported. Shroff’s mother, Ayesha Shroff, visited the hospital and offered his family support, the paper added, citing Mid Day.
Security tightened, warning on fake videos
The shooting has rattled the film industry. The Indian Express reported that Akshay Kumar is installing a bulletproof glass shield outside his Juhu house, security has been raised for Salman Khan, and police patrols have been stepped up outside the homes of Aamir Khan and Rohit Shetty.
Shroff’s team has warned of legal action over fake stories and AI generated videos about him. “Tiger Shroff has made no statements, released no videos, and authorised no communication regarding the recent incident,” the statement said, according to Mid Day.
Actor Manoj Bajpayee called the incident scary. “I just hope the investigation wraps up as soon as possible, and that an example is set so that next time, anyone will think twice before doing something like this,” he told ANI, as reported by Hindustan Times. Divya Dutta said everyone needs “a normal sort of safety”.
What comes next
The three accused will be questioned until 31 October, and police are still trying to recover the weapon used in the attack. Shroff, the son of veteran actor Jackie Shroff, has made no public statement, according to his team.
