Karnataka Government has established Karnataka State Open University on 1st June, 1996 and since then it has been recognized by various councils like DEC (Distance Education Council), AIU (Association of Indian Universities), AAOU (Asian Association of Open Universities), COL (Association with Commonwealth of Learning), ACU (Association of common wealth University).
This is a well – known open and one of the best open universities in India. It is situated in Mysore, almost five Kilometres away from the centre of the city. It has well-developed facilities like a hygienic canteen, a library with a huge collection of study materials, a girl’s hostel, Lecture Halls, Guest House cottages, etc.
KSOU offers both on-campus and distance education. Be it a Certificate course, diploma, graduation, post-graduation diploma or post-graduation course, KSOU offers a huge array of academic courses.
Karnataka State Open University offers a Master degree program in Business Administration. It is one of the best MBA programs available in this country.
It is a course with a flexible structure in terms of duration. The maximum duration of the course is of 4 years and the minimum duration is of 2 years, which comprises of 4 semesters.
If someone fails to complete their programme within 4 years, they will have to readmit themselves. In KSOU, the medium of instruction for this programme is ‘English’. In examinations, one can choose to either answer the paper in the vernacular i.e. Kannada or in English.
However, English is commonly used here. In the open distance system, courses are known as programmes and papers are known as courses.
