Born on the 24th of August in the year 1908 in Pune city, located in the Indian state of Maharashtra, Shivaram Rajguru was a famous Indian revolutionary who is until today, recalled for his grave involvement in the assassination of the British police officer.
A significant member of the Hindustan Socialist Republican Army, an organization that solely aimed at freeing the nation from the clutches of the British at all cost, Rajguru believed in the aggressive approach at achieving things, and opposed the theories of civil disobedience and non violence, as he thought those ways were only for naïve and would be of no good if one were to vouch for such a big thing as freedom from foreign rule.
He became an accomplice of Bhagat Singh and became a member of the assassination team for the murder of British police officer J.P. Saunders in the year 1928 at Lahore, Pakistan. This move was a response to the violent death of famous leader Lala Lajpat Rai after Rai succumbed to injuries from police’s beatings post his non violent protest against the Simon Commission.
Rajguru, along with Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev were tried and executed for the murder, and so were the other other co conspirators. He passed away on the 23rd of March in 1931 at the age of 22.
