About World Day for Water

World Water Day each year is observed on 22nd March across the globe. The primary purpose of celebrating this day is to draw the attention of the public about the importance of water as a resource and the different ways of actually preventing it.

Each one of us is aware of how vital water is to us, and without it, humans cannot exist. 60% of the human body constitutes water. Every living being is It plants or animals do require water to survive on Earth. Hence, it has become the need of the hour to understand the importance.

Celebration

The World Water Day each year is celebrated by several organisations by organising different events and distributing powerful messages on various platforms such as social media, television, educational activities by stressing over the fact that water is essential and finding out ways to preserve this precious resource, The different forms of how we can take care of water are:

1. Planting more trees
2. Restoring the wetlands
3. Rainwater harvesting
4. Reconnection of the rivers

All these measures gradually help to rebalance the water cycle.

History

It was in the year 1993 when the United Nations General Assembly had decided to celebrate and initiate 22nd March as the World Water Day, and be celebrated annually across the globe.

It was majorly done to increase the awareness amongst the people not to wastewater and conserve every bit of it. It was in 1992 that it was first officially added to the schedule of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Brazil.

Then from the next year, 1993, celebrations had started with full swing on this day by stating the important use of water in the lives of individuals each day.
