Green tea is the ‘’new black’’ in town, as almost every person you come across talks about green tea being a part of their everyday diet. For a long, long time, green tea was said to be consumed largely by only the Asian population, until that one fine day when it just took the entire world by storm and cast a magic spell, making almost every individual either a green tea drinker or at least inquisitive about it!

As believed by many, it is said that consuming green tea everyday rejuvenates your whole body thoroughly for within, by cleansing and healing your body. It is also added that green tea is a perfect drink for detoxification, giving you that much-awaited clear and glowing skin that’s totally healthy.

Along with all of this, green tea is also decked with some healthy antioxidants that help in strengthening your immune system, building your resilience against a list of inflammatory diseases, including the flu.

But the main part here is, people have started associating green tea with weight loss programs, treating it like a new mojo that can give you that sexy flat tummy that you have been craving for so long.

So, does it work? And if it does, then how?

Well, as per experts, green tea does aid weight loss, but you need to consume it in the right quantities.

Green tea has absolutely zero calories and at the same time, it is extremely filling, hence, stopping you from binge eating at odd hours.

It has some catechins and antioxidants that promote weight loss in the body, and according to some studies, around two to three cups of green tea a day can give you a relatively flatter tummy.

As per nutritionists, a total of around 100 to 750 mg of green tea extract is the standard recommendation for weight loss purposes, which is around 240-350 polyphenols.

These polyphenols alongside caffeine that green tea comes loaded with help increase your body’s metabolism, which is the rate at which your body burns calories, and as per nutritionists, consuming green tea daily can boost your body’s mechanism for up to 4%.

However, you must also remember that thinking like, ‘’Oh I can have 10 cups a day for more weight loss,’’ is not the ideal way of going about this, as, despite its stupendous properties, it is still a tea at the end of the day, and an overdose of it can have harmful effects on the body. So you should not cross the limit of three cups a day.

The best time to have green tea is from early morning to late afternoon, say from breakfast to lunch or brunch time. Having green tea in the evening or at night is not a good option, especially for those suffering from any kind of sleeping disorder.

Also, do remember that if weight loss is your main goal, then green tea alone won’t be able to help you.

You need to pair it up with physical exercise, leading a healthy lifestyle, and also excluding stress from your life as much as possible, to reach your desired weight.
