About Panchgani
Also commonly referred to as Panchgani, Panchgani is a very popular hill station located in the Satara district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.
Other than being a famous tourist attraction place, it is also famous for housing a list of A-rated residential educational institutions.
It stands at an elevation of 1,293 meters, and the official language of this region is Marathi. According to the 2001 census of India, the population of Panchgani is over 13,280 people.
During the 1860s, Panchgani was discovered as a summer resort during the reign of the British in India. The place would always be pleasant throughout the year unlike the neighboring hill station of Mahabaleshwar, which wouldn’t be fit for inhabitance in the monsoon season.
Thus, the British chose Panchgani to be their retirement place as well. It is only 100 KM away from the city of Pune and only 18 Km away from the popular hill station of Mahabaleshwar located in the same state.
Panchgani is surrounded by five villages, which are: Khingar, Dandeghar, Godwali, Taighat, and Amral. It is also surrounded by prominent dams from four directions.
On its east, it has the Wai, Bavdhan, as well as the Nagewadi Dams, while on its west, it has the Gureghar Dam. On its south, it has the Khingar Dam and Rajpuri Dam, while on the north, it has the Dhom Dhom Dam.

- Table Land: This is an extensive plateau comprised of laterite rock, and happens to be the second-largest mountain plateau in the entirety of Asia.
- Devil’s Kitchen: This place has historic significance as according to the legend, during Mahabharata, the Pandavas had stayed here.
