Mayapur – Spiritual & Pilgrim Place For The Hindus
About Mayapur
Located in Nadia district on the banks of River Hooghly in the Indian state of West Bengal, Mayapur is a popular spiritual and pilgrim place for the Hindus.
It happens to be one of the most visited religious centers of the state and houses a list of temples where lacs of people visit every year.
Founded by Bhakti Vinod Thakur, Mayapur mainly houses temples that are dedicated to Lord Krishna and Goddess Radha.
Such is the intensity of the devotion to these popular Hindu deities here, that it is often compared to Lord Krishna devoted cities like Mathura—where he was born, and Vrindavan.
The place is open for tourists for the entire year and other than its religious aspects, as on today, it also happens to be a popular picnic spot for families and friends.
The main pilgrim attraction points of Mayapur include the ISKCON Chandrodaya Temple, the Sri Chaitanya Math, the Yoga Peeth, and the Chand Kazis Samadhi.
The most popular festivals celebrated in the place include Janmashthami—to celebrate the birthday of Lord Krishna, Holi—the popular Indian festival of colors, and many other Vaishnava festivals.
