About Dalhousie
Located in the district of Chamba, in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh in India, Dalhousie is a very famous hill station situated on a range of five hills, on an elevation of around 1,970 meters above sea level.
Historically, this place was named Dalhousie after popular British Governor General in India: Lord Dalhousie, when he developed this place as a venue for summer retreat for the people in the year 1854.
The names of the five hills on which Dalhousie stands are: Kathalagh Hill, Terah Hill, Potreyn Hill, Bakrota Hill, and lastly, Bhangora Hill.
The snow-clad mountain peaks magnificently envelop this hill station as it is situated on the western edge of Himalayas’ Dhauladhar mountain range. For tourism purposes, the best time to visit Dalhousie is during the summer season, precisely between the months of May and September.
The architecture in this place in the churches and bungalows depicts the grandeur of Victorian and Scottish design and architecture.
From artifacts to handicrafts, cultural fests, and sight-seeing places—Dalhousie has it all, especially for the fact that it is the main gateway of the Chamba district, which itself is famous for its varied and vivid culture.
Dalhousie has the largest number of hotels to accommodate visitors, and at the same time has independent places for tourists’ stay, such as villas and bungalows.

Dalhousie also as a very popular and beautiful potato field called Alla, which depicts the wonderful landscape and scenic beauty.
