About Atal Bihari Vajpayee
Born on December 25th, 1924, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, Atal Bihari Vajpayee is one of the most prominent politicians in the country, someone who is significantly known as the only prime minister of India who had the privilege to hold the office for three times in a row after Jawaharlal Nehru’s longest tenure as the prime minister of India.
His journey as a politician has been terrific, as he has served as the member of the Indian Parliament for over 50 years. His leadership qualities have been appreciated by the nation, and throughout his life, he has managed to keep his image clean in front of the public.
He has also served as a member of a variety of organizations and contributed effortlessly to a large number of social causes in the country.
He was one among the many leaders who were arrested during the Quit India Movement in 1942, and during the same time, he joined the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, a party which he later became the leader of.
In 1980, he founded the Bharatiya Janta Party, with the help of his friends and colleagues from the RSS and the BJS. He was elected as the prime minister of India for the first time in 1996, and continued to have the post till 1999. He retired from politics in the month of December of 2005.
