About Lava

Founded in the year 2009 by Hari Om Rai, Sunil Bhalla, Vishal Sehgal, and Shailendra Nath Rai, Lava International Limited, commonly known as LAVA, is a private Indian company focused on telecommunications as well as consumer electronics. It was previously known by the name of Placatel.

It has its headquarters in Noida, Delhi-NCR. The company went on to set up an R&D unit in the country of China, and the unit later went on to produce popular LAVA handsets, including the LAVA Iris Pro 30.

In the year 2014, the company made a record for itself by winning two titles, first of which was the 4th rank holder in largest smartphone brands in the country of India, and the other was the 5th position in being The Brand Trust Report’s most trusted mobile handsets brand in India.

In the year 2012, under the brand name of XOLO, LAVA partnered with Intel to produce the first-ever Intel-powered smartphone in the country. While its later devices were all powered by Android, it was in the year 2014 that the company released LAVA Iris Win 1, which was the first Windows-powered handset from the brand. In the year 2016, LAVA launched the popular LAVA X50, which is again powered by Android, version 5.1 lollipop.
