About Hindi Language
Hindi Language
The official language of the country of India, Hindi is the most popular Indian language with a wide range of native speakers. In ancient India, precisely Hindustan, the standard Hindi spoken has been based on a dialect called Khariboli, which happened to be the main vernacular of places like Delhi, the capital of the country, and the neighboring states of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
One of the popular dialects of ancient India, Urdu, which means “language of the camp” became the most commonly used dialects among the Hindustanis and also acquired the honorable linguistic prestige during the rule of the Mughals in India, that is the 1800s. Gradually, a movement started coming to fore wherein North India started standardizing Hindi as a separate language from the Urdu dialect, and soon after, Hindi became so popular that even the Mughals took a keen interest in learning it. Bihar adopted it as their official language and thus, became the first Indian state to do so.
Grammar for Hindi was prepared in the year 1954 and the government standardized it the same year, followed by the standardization of its orthography.
The date of the 14th of September is celebrated as Hindi Day in the country, since the same day in the year 1949, Hindi was declared to be the official language of India.
