Established in the 20th century in the Indian city of Allahabad, Anand Bhavan is a historic museum that was constructed in 1930 by famous Indian political leader Motilal Nehru. The historical essence of this place lies with the fact that it was constructed at the time India was going through harsh struggles for freedom from the British rule.
The place has elements that depict the journey of the Nehru family, one of the most significant and pivotal lineage in the history of politics in India. The structure was mainly the ancestral home of the Nehrus and also the first prime minister of India, Jawahar Lal Nehru.
It was later transformed into a museum, accessible to the general public for viewing as a tourist spot. Various rooms in the place, especially Nehru’s bedroom has enriched significance, as it has been dedicated to father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi, who used to stay in this room during his frequent visits to the place.
The exteriors of the place are surrounded by lush green gardens that make the ambiance all the more tranquil. Indira Gandhi, also known as the “Iron lady of India” handed over this familial construction to the Indian government in the year 1970.
